my forget-me-nots start off blue but then turn pink and the same has happened to one of my aubretias. Is this a normal thing or is it something in the soil?

I think it is fairly normal TLA. It has happened to me with forget-me-nots - you can also buy pink ones.

It could be like hydrangea I suppose, is your soil acid or alkaline? My RHS book says that both like fairly poor soil but doesn't mention anything that may change the colour.

My white hydrangea has turned pale pink. I haven't minded much as it is still a lovely shade. I am on heavy clay, alkaline, soil, so willnever have a blue hydrangea naturally and I expect that is why the whites turn pinky. Also my pulmanaria seedlings, from pink and mauve parents, have come up bright blue - a surprise but none the more lovely for that!

Just read my own last message which has just been posted. At the end I THINK I meant to write 'none the LESS lovely for that'!!

could be that. In a recent test my soil was pretty alkaline and is heavy clay.
