Finally a morning of nice, persistent rain! Never before in my life have I enjoyed rain so much! My garden gets a good drenching! And it is a nice amount that comes down, not so much as to drown everything, just a lovely persistent trickle! I did not know the joy of it!
Over the weekend we bought fencing material, about £100 worth of plants, more chipped bark and weed fabric and even a new bbq. So we are well on track for summer - we also cleared a carload full of rubbish that we had dug up so far doing the garden... we need another roughly half ton of chipped bark and we need to rip down an old concrete coal bunker (hubby off on Thursday so that's when he will tackle the old rusty screws that hold the bunker sides together), and after that all that's left to do is to dig the pond and clean up! The in-laws are coming in 4 weeks time by which time we could be finished! :D

Its raining here also..thank goodness it means i havnt got to go out watering..one job less...I have lots of seeds coming through so they will be glad of a drink..you sound like you are going to be busy..i hope your pond turns out better than mine did as i didnt dig mine straight and it leaks on one side..i have hidden the mistakes with wood..its a good job i am not a perfectionist and as my whole garden is dedicated to a wild feel having a lop sided pond doesnt really matter..I bought some bark in the week to put on my fruit patch to keep the weeds down a bit..and to keep some moisture in as its in a hot spot..what sort of plants did you buy?

All sorts really, a couple of honeysuckles for the arbour, some hostas and ferns for a shady spot (around where the new pond will go), bits and bobs of flowering stuff and alpine ground cover - oh and lots of little catmint plants because they really work - we bought a couple of catmints a few weeks ago and the cats went mental, now we got quite a lot more that will go in a small patch right by the house to keep the little critters in OUR garden and not to run away all the time!

Stopped here now but welcome it was - and tonight after work we will do some more digging (freeing some more slabs from the old patio to extend the new one by one line - and build a wee base for our new BBQ! :D

Soil was really nice today after a bit of the wet stuff on it. It's also warming up in the sunshine so I planted out a couple of small trees I'd been holding back.
