    Hi Jan
have you tried contacting your local parks department - they should have some "thinnings" from the winter pruning season or else try http://www.driftwoodsculptures.co.uk/gallery.htm - they are a bit expensive though! or even ebay. Another thing to do is to contact local Arboriculturalists (look in yellow pages) I have got specimens this way to use in designs.Be good to see the results of your project if you could post the pics on here [IMG]

    hey

thanks a lot for the links and tips [IMG] . I'll give it a shot - I mean, it can't be so difficult to get hold of a dead tree. And if all else fails I gonna buy a real tree from my little income, plant it in the exebition and set it free afterwards. My project is about environmental issues, recycling, urbanisation etc. Of course I'll send a photo to you guys !

Thanks a lot - if anyone has more ideas or advise - please post 'em !!

    -jan

i actually have a dead tree (well at least i think it is, waiting for a final verdict from a pro gardener who gave it to me). But, i'm in Cornwall and i doubt that would be a lot of use to you!

Hi Primrose if the tree is dead, give it lots of water, may come back, but if still in ground and right place, cut it back to make a table for you , or a stool to perch on admiring your garden, while having your lunch ...lol or a bird table. It can give you a few years of use, specially if it was a favorite tree, may even sprout lol.. it my last a few years, or grow Sweetpeas up it.

I'm getting a tree stump from a local tree surgeon I found in the Yellow Pages. He said he was glad to get rid! and is only charging me for the petrol to deliver it on the way home!

Our local council are pretty good at creating dead trees, either they plant them and forget about them, or they strip the bark at the base with a strimmer. Still it keeps them in a job. [IMG]
