I have a large flowered Tree Peony whose flowers (out now) are always ruined by the strong winds here. I therefore need to move it. Has anyone any experience of moving one?

I dug mine up in june, with a lot of root ball, potted it, and re sited it the following march.
It moved from a sheltered 150' above sea level, in a fairly sheltered position. Now it lives beneath a paulownia, 1000' up and it loves it, BUT.........I cover it every oct and remove the sack mid april. It's in full bloom now. Mind you it's a horrible colour. Pale yellow. I hate yellow. My white tree peony is lush, it had the same treatment, but it hasn't flowered since two years before we moved. Still all my other peony's are budding this year for the first time since we moved. I agree with walnut leave it until later in the year. I had to pot mine so early, as we put the house on the market, and I potted mostly everything i was taking by the 1st viewing.
