Oh dear we are getting frustrated.

You all seem to have lost the plot somewhere and are way off topic, gardenerscorner is a forum for gardening not hounding.

But, you know what I don't care either.

    Goodbye!

Evening Charles ... have you had a change of heart overnight? People are still guessing ... we have many guessing games on this forum ... not just gardening ones ... fills in the gaps and makes it a VERY popular forum. [IMG]

Don't go Charles we hardly know you, the reason we ask were you live it gives us some idea what temperature zone you are in and what will grow there, it is part of the horticultural plot, here is a zone map it just gives us some idea of your area of plant hardiness. http://www.trebrown.com/hrdzone.html

Yes Charles ... hang in there man
We all like to hear differing opinions .... they are the life blood of gardening
Now you guys ... try to be nicer to a new arrival. You have all been nice to me
Hi Charles ... can I be allowed to give you a tip? Don't tell everybody how knowledgeable you are, and why. It is inclined to get people's backs up.
I mean that advice kindly [IMG]

Sorry not been around for a while [IMG]

Is this your website Charles ?

    http://www.plants-free-for-life.com

I was looking for some information about non flowering eucomis :(

I grow my Zantedeschia in very poor damp soil. It is just off the dog yard and gets washed daily. Not pond conditions but by no means frost free. I think its the freezing and refreezing of the plant which will be the biggest problem in water, but like most plants you have to know your own garden and what works best. Essex is pretty mild by most UK standards and we get away with a lot. My ensete banana for example is still throwing up leaves despite a couple of minus ones.

    Has he gone?

I like that map Walnut, I see we're dark green [IMG] I've seen quite a few Zantedeschia locally in gardens too, so we put ours outside earlier this year. I usually ask my Mum what needs protecting from the frost, she lives local, and has been gardening for many moons, she's better than any book :D

Mr Mac would like a collection of different couloured Zantedeschia. I've seen pink ones [IMG] . Can anyone recommend where to buy? that doesn't cost the earth?!

Beki. The cheapest place to get zantedeschia is Wilkos in spring. But only buy the corms not the pre-grown potted ones. I suspect that most Wilkos are like the Scarborough one where none of the staff actually look after the plants. I have to laugh here in Scarborough. They let them die (literally) and then try to sell them at half price. I never buy plants there.

And one must assume that 'he' is gone. Such a great SOH and not at all bombastic. Actually I have some of his grass - pompous grass. That's not very kind is it? [IMG] ;)

Beki, they can usually be found tuber wise in those plastic bags with the photo on the front in most Garden Centres in spring, along with the dahlias etc.
If you should want a white one go for the variety "Crowborough" its larger and pretty impressive.

I like that word John,....... bombastic. :D

Hi John & Pete, thanks, yes, I think I recall seeing them in Wilko's earlier this year. (It's one of my favourite shops! [IMG] So I'll pick some up next Spring) The garden centres'll probs be a bit more expensive [IMG]
the one we have is white, but I've no idea what it's called. I'll remember "Crowborough" for Spring [IMG]
    Thanks again
    Beki x

Now I'm just a newbie here so I have no axe to grind and I don't know you at all yet. But I find it astonishing the way you have treated a fellow member (who now seems to have left)!

Even more astonishing is that a moderator was involved, where's the webmaster?

And to say "Don't tell everybody how knowledgeable you are, and why. It is inclined to get people's backs up" is outrages.

What are you all thinking of this guy (or gall) could have given us so much of his/her knowledge, accept people for what they are, we aint all the same and I think he/she meant well until you set about him/her.

I enjoy a good bit of banter like the next man, sorry person, but come on now there's no need for unkindness.

Well I gues I've left myself wide open to similar treatment.

Evening, Leucojum, and welcome to GC.

I was one of the people involved in the conversation mentioned so I'll only speak for myself.

I thought the attitude very off-ish, too up front and personal. Then when you say you like a bit of banter etc and encourage such, when you get it, you come back with an axe in your hand. I could say more because I know more.

I don't think any of us were being unkind ... we were one on one, giving as good as we get. We are probably the friendliest forum barring none ... we have words with each other ... but then there's always the final option ...

Look at the time most of us in the conversation involved have been here and look at the time the one who was causing the problems has been here ...

I hope you'll stay around and enjoy GC because you are not going to find anywhere better ...
