I bought this plant a few years ago and it is flowering for the first time now.

It is evergreen and the leaves are about 4 inches long.

Does anyone know what it is please.

[IMG] Not sure as it seems a bit late as mine flower in early summer but they look awfully like my "Leucojum Aestivum" Giant snowflake, can grow up to 40cm. They are distant relatives of the snow drop. If this is wrong I'm sure someone will come up with the right answer. [IMG]

I have a plant called, wait for it, Ophiopogon Planiscapus "Nigrescens" (hope I spelt that right) :D
Now that has got black leaves, but other than that it looks very similar. Should add its a bit of a job to get any idea of the size in the picture hope its not 4 ft high. ;)

That's why I said the leaves are 4 inches long.

You're right it does, it looks like a cross between that and liriope.

    Hi Rich
It is in the same family as Ophiopogon planiscapus - it is Ophiopogon minimus (also known as O. japonicus) Hope that clears things up!

It's common name is 'turf lilly' which is much easier to say :D I have the black form planted in a dark grey pot shaped as an Easter Island head.
