We have just picked the fruit from our Green Gage tree. Some of it is alright so far, but my neighbour who helped himself from his side of the fence, reported that some of the ones he picked had white worms in them  (serves him right for not asking permission!!)

Any way, what are these worms, and how can I over come the problem for next year.

    Thanks

Like all fruit tree, the culprits are overwintering under the bark in Autumn, make lots of babies come Spring, send them all up tree, to all the to the juicy bits and enjoy the fruits, long before you do...put some grease band, specially treated, round at bottom, to stop them getting further....not sure about today, but we used to spring spray, just after flowering, at burst of the bud.

Aha, I wondered what it was too, but I suppose it serves me right for raiding mum's victorias! :D

    Thanks All!!

Steve I have printed off the info sheet for my gardening folder. Ladybird, I normally put a band around my apple tree, so will now be doing this to my green gage in future.

    Thanks again
