Identification needed please

Rob's nana passed a way a couple of months ago and his parents have been clearing out the house. His mum very kindly asked if i wanted some plants. I've taken a couple but havent a clue as to what they are.

Any help would be fab.



And the second....

They dont look the healthiest of plants at the mo, as the house has been empty, there hasn't been anyone there to water.

As a wild guess, the first reminds me of a Penstemon, the second with the seed heads and leaves, looks like a salvia. But tis a very wild guess.

 

The firet might be a crocosmia nearing the end of flowering. Need to see leaves! Agree about the second, or veronica.

 

Agree with Fran the second one looks very much like one of my Salvias - not sure about the first!

I think no2 is linaria as for no 1, are they the flowers and no leaves?

 

I don't think the first one is crocosmia, but I did think it looked like penstimon, but no leaves? and the stems look very woody.

OK I have just found the packet after a search and its Venidium Jaffa Ice......

 

Glad I didn't say what I thought it was now. :D :D

Thought it was a Gerbera, similar.

 

I had this a couple of years ago under the name Arctotis Jaffa Ice; it's one of the African daisies. I've looked both names - Arctotis and Venedium - but I can't find a link! :confused: They are surely a beautie ... don't know what happened to mine! :(

Well, that is fascinating, Roders ... if you type in Jaffa Ice in Yahoo, the very first item is the Thompson-Morgan ad with the identical picture and blurb but it says Arctotis on it ... compare the two ... even more :confused:

 

Very interesting LoL......It appears both names are correct,but the RHS Encyclopedia favours Arcotis,so it must be so.I think I will call them African Daisy's from now on..
