Food Crops

Please could some one help me with is question for my horticulture course.Thank you very much!

Give 2 examples for each of plants used for food crops in which the primary crop is:

a)Roots
b)Leaves
c)Bulbs

For each of the above, say what properties each is harvested (e.g colour,aroma,smell or taste)

I would say the easiest thing for you to do would be to go down to your local greengrocer's, see what they have for sale, and what it is about those crops (be it roots, leaves or bulbs) that appeals to you as a consumer (taste, colour, aroma?) and you will have your answer.

 

1) carrots, parsnips, beetroot, turnips, potatoes
2) cabbage, spinach, kale, lettuce
3) onions, leeks, spring onions

 

Yeah, I understand that bit, its the second bit that I dont get.
Surely if its a food crop, you grow it for its taste. Anyway isn't smell and aroma the same thing.

Alliums are the only blub regularly eaten in Britain, but Camssia used to be eaten in N.America.

This does sound rather like course homework so really you should do your own research.

However, suppose you were to cook a vegitarian meal, what sort of raw ingrediants could you use, what would you choose them for and then look at how they are grown and harvested.
