Weeds is not to much of a problem however the brambles will have to be dug up could perhaps borrow a flame gun to burn off the worst and that will allow you to get an idea to how entrenched the weeds are,it will be hard work but a bit each day will soon bring into shape [IMG]

you're luck fancy, I've been waiting for a year now for one to become available :(

If it's really overgrown you could try tackeling a bit at a time. Getting one area planted up will encourage you to do the rest.

Good luck Fancy, we've just finished clearing all our brambles. Mostly we've chopped them off and then kept deheading any new growth. It seems to be working as the flower beds are almost bramble free and what does pop up is very weak. It's taken us just a year clearing the ground a bit at a time.

Loks to me the plot has not been worked on for 15 years. the allotment borders my garden, so I am going to put a gate after removing a pannel out. the whole site is gated so I will feel safe.
    thanks for the advice.

Mine hadn't been used for years either. I strimmed the whole lot over and then have started at one end and moving slowly to the other digging, laying flags and putting in raised beds. Takes a lot of hard work, but well worth it.
