Every gardening programme on TV always tells you to mix iun manure here, mulch with manure there etc etc.

I have used manure before by going down the local stables with a trailer and loading up for free but it would take me weeks to keep going down there to get enough loads for what i need.

Does anyone know where i can get bulk loads of the stuff delivered in southampton. Looked on the net and in the yellow pages but no one seems to sell the stuff. Is there are market there????

i have recently moved house and the soil is really tired with most of the garden having been veggie plot for years and years so it needs lots of poo to reawaken it.

Ah how I miss my horse! keeping one is a great supply of the old sH1t and over the winter rots down with all the other compost that goes into my 7 heaps.

    [IMG] Hi browfish & welcome,
Do you have a farmers supply store near you? We have a Countrywide store near us, they usually can put you in touch with local farmers who sell or an Equestrian centre or local stable even. I am lucky there are a couple of farmers in our village who supply us.. [IMG] You just need to make sure it is the older well rotted stuff.. ;) :D Hope this helps, but not in your area. Contact the local farmers supply place.... :D Failing that place a wanted add in your local rag........ I do not know of it being sold wholesale anywhere ;) :D

    thanks people
Have found a stable off that site only a couple of minutes away that i didnt realise existed. Better than a 15 minute drive each way to where i used to go. THink i shall have to keep going down there with the trailor but might finish the house extension before i start on the garden.

Does anyone have a link for the Northamptonshire area as we could do with some for our lottie, but a lot of the time the farmers round us would rather set fire to it than let us Gardeners have it.We would even be willing to pay them for the pleasure of taking it away.In the village where our allotment is where we lived for 21 years the farmers will only deliver manure to people in their drinking group grrrr

There are a million studs and racing stables around here, but you would think I was asking for a hind fillet of horse from the reaction I get when asking for manure. I thought I was a snob, but lordy! these people believe that I'm not worthy of taking away their sH1T. Shocking attitude, if you ask me.
