    Hi

Did anyone watch Gardeners World last night? Carol Klein showed this very unusual plant and I didn't catch the proper name but she did mention "Triplicate" I think because the leaves were in three sections.

If that makes any scense at all I'm amazed!!

It was Trillium something or other. Sorry I can't remember the species.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillium

They were so called because everything was in threes, down to the petals and the leaves, weren't they?

Going off thread I just wish Carol Klein was the main presenter of G.World she's so enthusiasm and so much more 'into' gardening than Monty who just seems he's a bored art critic wandering around a museum instead of gardens!Hel.xxx.

Yes I do agree, I remember when she had a stand at Gardeners World at the NEC, she was so knowlegeable and helpfull. I must check out this year to see if she is there or more possibly her stand is there but without her serving as it were.

I have heard that her own garden is not "neat" but full of diverse ideas and I can believe that.

me too, I met her at the RHS TattonPark show and even thoughshe was being pushed from pillar to post she managed to take time out for a few questions and photo's,

I agree Hel - she's wonderful isn't she? I found myself smiling back at the television screen on Friday night! And I've got my workmates watching her too. Her "Grow Your Own Veg" book is full of that same enthusiasm too. I would love to see her present GW full time.

Helof... exactly my sentiments about Monty Don... yes I do like a bit of history etc about a country, but considering that its meant to be about the plants he spends more time talking architecture etc and not enough focus on plants. I too wish Carol was the GW presenter and what wouldnt I give to see Roy Lancaster back presenting a gardening programme? the man has such knowledge and enthusiasm, no one can rival him.

I agree with you about Monty Don. In his '80 Gardens' I got the feeling that he was the presenter for a travelogue, but not a gardener. He would quite happily walk past plants without commenting on them as if he couldn't see them.

I think that Gardener's World is ready for a change get Monty off and replace the main spot with Carol.

I know that it might seem old fashion of me but I do so love watching a gardening programme where a presenter loves 'getting down and dirty' for want of a better phase.

I want to see a person who is without a doubt 'into' gardening who lives and breathes the hobby and just makes you so enthusiastic about it that no matter what kind of weather we are having you just can't wait to get stuck in! [IMG] Hel.xx.

Three of my favs ..... Geoffrey Smith stood out on his own, and Titchy was just so easy to listen to
I agree that Carol Klein also has the enthusiasm that comes over on the screen
And, I fear, that I also find Monty Don a little boring <yawn><yawn>

I'm originally from South Africa and Zimbabwe so I was really looking forward to Monty visting SA. What a dissappointment! Who cares about millionaires gardens?? There are so many places we could have visited - and he only talked about a handful of plants. It was very arty not 'true gardens' in the slightest :(

He was so horrible about the Protea! The national flower of South Africa, in the national botanical garden, with one of the top botanists in the country, and he told her it was ugly!!

I would like that Ferocious Blue Cycad though - THAT would keep the squirrels away!

Carol Klein is ok but her "grow your own veg" series left loads of questions and precious few answers!

I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that she's learning the same as ourselves and making the same mistakes?

Not gonna mention her daughter! phwooaaarrr [IMG]
