    Afternoon everyone.

    Been tidying up around the garden and noticed this undet some conifers. Could someone tell me what is? Is it possible to take a cutting from it?

    It looks like a Periwinkle. If it is they can be an invasive pest and you will have no trouble propagating it!Try pulling up a piece and you will see how tough it is.. [​IMG]

    Hi Mowgley,
    I think it's a Periwinkle....my friend grew some from cuttings taken in Autumn, if that's any use????? :rolleyes:
    I'm sure one of our more knowledgable members will be along in a minute to confirm or deny!! :D :D

    Yep looks like a periwinkle very pretty but can be invasive

    Hi Mowgley yes its Vinca(Periwinkle)There two types Major and Minor,Looked upon as an Invasive weed in some countries Not here though,I love It for ground cover especially in the shade,Yes take cuttings by all means .It very seldom self seeds in this country but spreads by new tips on runnners.Hope this helps.     Yup, vinca! I have some in my garden and it spreads on runners. They are quite easy to pull out, however, so you can keep it under control.

    Have a look at a joint if there are tiny roots then peg the stem down and leave for a few weeks, it should self root then just cut it off the main plant and transplant.

    I was watching another gardening program while waiting for gardener's world on Friday - the one with Christine someone in it - and I think it was Periwinkle's stamen that she said the modern Olympic torch design was based on?

    Some variegated Vinca has crept throught into my garden from next door. I have replanted it under some privet in a shady corner. It has certainly brightened it up.
