harry, I dug one out a few years ago that had been growing in the same spot for at least 10yrs.
I dont think I would have wanted to try moving it, it had lots of root, most of which was hard to get out.
I suppose you could cut it hard back, chop the roots off where nesasary and hope for the best.
I think early spring would be the best time to do it.
A new young plant may well get away faster than a moved old woody one.

Thanks Pete, moving the choisya seems like hard work with no guarantee of success, Sleeping dog's and all that.Another job off the list! Now, let's see, what else should I avoid doing?
    Harry.

Thank's Helen, hard work ain't easy so the choisya stay's put, unless you'd like to send your earth moving hubbie, tea and biccies supplied.

Oh no Harry too much work for Bob to get cracking down here although a nice cuppa and some biscuits does sound nice [IMG]

By the way Harry do you know Bo'ness just near Grangemouth?

Bob's got plenty of cousins up there and boy are they great fun although I don't catch all their words Bob translates them for me and they always say 'ken' an awful lot now that makes me howl :D

Tough little plant. All the cuttings survive over-wintering on the patio. Dug up plants are happy being heeled-in over the Winter. Do what you like, just make sure the roots are covered

It's a long time since I was in Bo'ness Helen, you are right though they do have a peculiar way of speaking, long words such as "awerightpalfancyaweehauf--ken

    Hi harrydee

I think choysa being an evergreen, comes under the heading, autumn moving,it's the deciduous plants which can be moved in wintertime, as they close down, and no sap is on the move.
