I bought some multipurpose compost from B&Q this year and noticed that some days after potting up seeds and cutings, that a lumps of clear colourless jelly started appearing on the surface of the soil. I have never seen this before and wasn't sure if it was some bacteria/fungus etc gr within the compost or something else like slug deposits( it had a "cube like" look to it in most cases.I am sure it was not visible in the compost bag when I opened it.
It didn't seem to do any damage to the plants but I was concerned as to whether I should be now be sterilising all my pots. any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks
    Martyn
