    Hi all,

I have lots of indoor pots that I'm not using at the mo.

Can I drill holes in the bottom of them (most of them are ceramic style btw), as I'd like to use them outdoors - would they crack if I drill holes in them?

I'm using one at the moment outside, but as there's no drainage it just fills up with water, esp. with all the rain we've had lately!

Not too worried about them being frost proof, as I'm going to put all my pot plants in the garage come the winter.

Might crack. I've found it's cheaper to buy outside pots for inside and just bung the hole up or put a saucer under the plant, cos some indoor pots are far too expensive! Could try drilling one first to see what happens, put tape on first before you drill like when you drill tiles.

There is a type of drill bit available specially for drilling ceramics and glass which I have used very successfully. Works better than an ordinary masonry drill especially on glazed pots.
