Hi all. I'm looking to get myself a nice magnolia. I would like it to have the following attributes: total height of 8-10ft, mauve/white or cream blooms & very fragrant. So what are my options guys?
Some pics of your mature trees would be great too. :D

They look nice debdobrium..do you have one of these?
I could do with something a little bigger though, the BBc link says it will only grow to 4-5ft after about 10 years. I may well add one of these anyway!

My magnolia tree is bare at this moment in time
as it is Deciduouse, but here is an example of susan, they are quite slow growing and prefer
    acidic soil.

    That's a nice one, WOO!

I do have a stellata, R200, but it's only tiny. I got it as a rescue bid from Wilkinsons shortly before I moved here, so that would be about a year and a half ago - one day it'll be big! (-ish!)

We had a M. "soul". About 28 years old, but I gave it the chop about 2 months ago as it was casting too much shade on the garden next door. They've only got a postage stamp garden and the shade from the tree was really cutting back the limited amounted of sun they could get.
All very sad as we loved the tree and it had some special sentimental value.
Those white "candles" were a very welcome sign that spring had sprung.

Doh! didn't read your post properly, missed the 'Soul'bit! I like the shape of them & from what I understand they come in a variation of colours from white to mauve. I'm looking for something inbetween.
    Perfect size & shape though.

Dave, was it fragrant at all?
