I've got two lots on the go in my greenhouse. Problem is I can't remember why I planted two lots and which are from which seeds.

    Must be getting old.

Thanks for your replies, think I'll plant them out this weekend, like you say Roy if the weather is to be kind.
They are starting to look a bit jaded so need to go out as soon as poss I think.
I grew two different types from seed and only one lot has done any good, but can't remember which type it is!!
It will a nice surprise when and if they flower ;)

Oh dear, this doesn't look good for my sweet peas - I plants them, as seeds, in a tub on my patio over a month ago. They are about 1 cm high now - does this mean they will not be successful because I planted them out too early?

    Not sure Sarah

Mine are about 3" high, some look strong and some weak!!

I was thinking about planting them out tomorrow but I think frost is forcast for Monday night and I'm not sure whether that would kill them off.

Although i presume yours have been out through frosts already.

    Regards Stingo

Yes, they have survived the frost so far and all look pretty strong, they are in a sheltered place - and I have now erected a 'greenhouse' around them. I'll see what kind of display I get this year and I'll know better for next year - we live and learn though.
I like this gardening thing and looks like I'm gonna get loads of practice (just inherited LOADS of established plants)- just hope none of the plants suffer because of mu inexperience; looks like I am gonna rely pretty heavily on this forum to get them through the summer.

Thanks to everyone for their advice

Do I understand you correctly? you actually planted the seed pod straight into the ground, last year after flowering?

Yup...that is exactly what I did I took the seeds out of the pods they had ripened on the plant poked some holes in the ground and put them in must have been about the end August they survived the frost and snow,I can remember my Dad doing much the same he didn't have a green house,he also planted broad beans and culinary peas in the autumn thats what old gardeners did I planted mine by a south facing wall. ;) Give it a try with just half dozen and see what happens.

sounds so much easier than growing in a greenhouse from seeds!!
I will definately try that this year.
    Thanks for the tip [IMG]
