We've just started to utilise 'grey' bath water that has come via a block salt water softener.

Opinions please on using this on various flowering plants as well as tomatoes?

I'm not sure of the source of your 'grey water' but here are a few quick tips :

    ââ?¬Â¢Choose the least contaminated ââ?¬Ë?grey waterââ?¬â?¢
Dilute waste water with high levels of detergents with water that contains lower levels
Use the minimum amount of detergent
Use products that contain the least synthetic chemicals
    ââ?¬Â¢Use ââ?¬Ë?Ecologically friendlyââ?¬â?¢ detergents
    ââ?¬Â¢Avoid applying ââ?¬Ë?grey waterââ?¬â?¢ with sprinklers
Avoid using waste water from dishwashers
    ââ?¬Â¢Do not store ââ?¬Ë?grey waterââ?¬â?¢
ââ?¬Â¢Do not irrigate food crops with ââ?¬Ë?grey waterââ?¬â?¢
Do not use water that has been used with products containing bleach or boron compounds ...found in dishwasher detergents.

AND: .It is also advisable not to use bath or shower water if there is an illness in the household.

Also if you have room for a water butt under a drain pipe to collect water when it DOES rain is good idea ....and one that is used here to good effect as the high temperatures here invariably throw up a thunderstorm ...and with the land being as dry as it is the rain simply runs off the surface .... 34° here at the moment and rising !! and NO garden watering restrictions !!!!

    Thanks M-L.
The 'grey'water we are using is only from the bath, which my wife prefers to have, whereas I shower. Little soap is used as she isn't that dirty! We also have our rain tubs as back up, but the bath water seems such a waste, especially as we are on a meter.
We are up in the high 20's now; England at its best!
    Bon chance!

Hi, can you tell me if water from my condenser tumble dryer is ok to use on my plants? Also could I store this in my water butt for future use?
We have just started the garden in our new house from scratch and I have already emptied my 3 water butts and as it doesn't forecast rain for a while yet I'd hate all my newly planted shrubs etc to wilt in the heat.
I don't use a hose unless I really have to so any other water usage tips would be greatly recieved!

    Thanks!

Water from the dryer conndenser should be relatively free from any chemicals, depending on whether you use a rinse additive, in which case look for Eco friendly ones .... so it should be OK for plants ...I'm confused as to why you'd use the dryer if there's no rain (but you may have other considerations) .....

I would suggest that rather than a hose pipe you use a watering can and make sure the plants are watered at the base ..not through the foilage..... and water late at night.

Our temperature has been constantly in the 30's for several weeks now (35° today) which dips to about 28° by midnight !!!needless to say our shutters are shut ... the terrace, which is south facing, must be at least 50° and even though our potted surfinas, petunias, vervene look very tired by the end day ...following a little watering around midnight ..they perk up cheerfully every morning .... by contrast the geraniums are soaking up the sun ..  M-L
