Does any know how to get rid of moles in the garden?

 

Oh no Moles.

As far as i know there is no easy way to get rid of moles and they are a constant garden pest like slugs and snails. Some of the usual suggestions are to half burry milkbottles in the heaps so that the wind blows over the top and the noise scares them away. Similar theory is to plant childrens windmills on your lawn. You could contact a pest controller if you are relly upset but i personally dont mind sharing my garden with a few wee beasts. Hope thats a help

 

Apparently once moles have made their runs they continue to use them without necessarily creating new runs. It has been suggested that trying to get rid of them just makes the problem worse. If you lightly collect the soil from the molehills (makes great potting compost) and leave things well alone you may find the problem stops once the runs are complete. You can the have the mole equivalent of the M25 under your garden while they create havoc in someone else's!

 

moles have a highly developed sense of smell ,ive heard lots of sergestions but the best ones seem to be ,dog wee (not good for lawn tho )or you could try soaking little cotton wool balls in albus oil and poking then into the holes ,im not sure if these work but might be worth a go !!

 

I too have periodic invasions of moles and have tried many means to banish them, but alas none seems to have any lasting results. Trapping has been the most successful method of acheiving a few months mole free but is not as easy as it seems. I now get the local mole catcher in when needed, who incidentally laughs at all the modern products which, according to him, are a waste of time and money.....and in my experience I tend to agree.

 

I have tried to get a specialist in but they want a vast amount of money and say there's no guarantee attached. There are sites on the web for deterrents a mix of caster oil,alum, washing up liquid plus human urine(male)
I have tried this and the moles keep away from the area but tunnel everywhere else.

 

I would imagine everbody keeps away from the area.
