[IMG] At the moment this is the one I would like most, but no where to put it at the moment.. Ii is Clerodedrum Trichotomum Verbenaceae.. Otherwise known as the Glory Tree or Glory Bower... The scent is out of this world... This is it in full flower  :D

    Philadelphus...Mock Orange..Why?..
Mrs Pal and I had our first kiss at the tender age of 14 as we stood beneath a huge shrub and the scent was intoxicating..............Then again it was probably just my technique [IMG] :D

oooh mf, a man after my own heart, I've wanted one for a long time. I wasn't able to get one before I moved and there's little chance now.But i do have the little cousin, clerodendron bungeii. But as I don't have one, I was going to suggest a paulownia tormentosa. They can be left to grow into a tree 15' high by 10' wide. But they can be hard pruned every year, to produce a shrub that reaches about 8'. It has enormous leaves when pruned. The leaves get smaller as it grows into a tree. But it has superb lilacy blue foxglove like flowers that open before the leaves unfurl. Hence the common name 'foxglove tree'. I bought mine from j parkers for £10. ithttps://www.larchcottage.co.uk/Gallery/DisplayLarge.cfm?iImageIDPK=3955

i was waiting for Mr.fiz to pick me up from the jobcentre this afternoon and it was really cold,so i decided to have a browse around a nearby shop to keep warm.I had about Ã?£1.70 in my purse and came away with this.. [IMG]Ã?£1.49.Hope the scent is as sweet as you say Paladin, although it does say on the box i`ll have to wait 10yr for it to reach 8ft.

Yes, I'd have to go with philadelphus - in fact I just have! (I also got philadelphus virginal, coincidentally.) My parents have one and it's lovely and does indeed smell gorgeous. I don't think you get many flowers at first though as I believe you have to keep pruning in spring to get a good shaped plant and they only flower on dead wood - I'd be prepared to be corrected on this though!
