We are booked - deposit paid, into a campsite north of Lochinver from Tuesday next week. We were intending to stay there for 4 or 5 days and then head up to Durness on the north west tip of Scotland. We've enough fuel to get up there, but if we can't refill we'll not get back! In some places garages can be 50 miles apart.
Looks like we may have to cancel.

Things seem pretty normal in Liverpool and Manchester, I think this is a storm in a teacup and yet another opportunity for the unscrupulous to make a quick buck.

Dave W sorry to hear that, hopefully it wont come to you having to cancel
    your holiday,
Numpty the trouble is people in Scotland are the ones who are having
to put up with this, a teacup of petrol may help someone get to a hospital
if needs must, friends just of phone, garages are closing all over Aberdeen
thats what i call a storm

If there is panic buying the stations will empty quickly. Delivery's schedules are usually set weeks in advance based on buying trends, reacting to the sudden upturn in demand cannot be made easily. If this continues in Scotland then deliveries will be diverting creating shortages elsewhere and perhaps more panic buying. Sometimes we're our own worst enemies, :)

As far as I'm aware, things aren't TOO bad in the SW of Scotland - I filled up at the end of last week, and have been walking to work to save using what I don't require. Hope you do get away Dave - to cancel your holiday would be a real dissappointment.

At least the main news are reporting the strike too - often because it's 'just Scotland', things don't get a mention!

    Petrol station seemed particularly busy.

The garages around here don't seem to be having overly large queues although after the last fuel shortage that can change quite quickly.

Bob keeps topping up the cars although we live in the 'sticks' so to speak we are very lucky that we do have shops etc. so don't need the juice to get about in the village unlike some lazy souls here and I don't mean the aged or infirmed, I think that some of the young'uns think that their legs are for the clutch and accelerator only never mind the brakes or walking for that matter!

We wouldn't have bothered keeping our cars topped up but really have to just in case Bob needs to be taken into hospital as the Northern General is quite a distance from our home.
Hopefully this will all blow over and not result in the maddness that happened last time there was a shortage, I mean last time the supermarket shelves were almost bare with people stocking up on food never mind the fuel for the cars! Hel.xxx.

Just as an outsider on your comments all, that is exactly it - not the business men/women who will still be able to carry on, but ordinary peoply who still like us put only £5 in at a time . Go on laugh, i can only do it slowly so i will catch up!!

I really feel for the motorist who is suffering, the true motorist that is. If you are travelling because of work you will suffer a bit . I hope everyone who is going on a holiday this year, travelling in UK perhaps! all the best.

    cheers

The threat of the strike just seems to have given the petrol stations the idea of hoiking prices another 2p a litre up to £122.9 a litre here. They all hesitated to avoid the £1 mark but now that it is past it they are just running up the board:mad:
