Anyone had any success in killing nests with this stuff ?

Nippon Wasp Nest Destroyer Foam Aerosol 300ml

Got a sprawling nest from the outside gutter into the loft. Looks quite small at the moment but I want to kill it quick.

BM I've just seen this- I hope you've dealt with it now. Wasps built anest right outside my kitchen and I trid this stuff-3 cans! In the end I had to get council to deal with it.

Mine sounds similar, under the sofits and into the loft. The wasps were around all day just above the patio. Directing the aerosol on a ladder 20ft. up the wall was a bit awkward but it did succeed.

There as a bit of a problem later as the stuff solidified on the timber and was a bit difficult to remove. Hope you manage BM - not too keen on wasps.............

    Hey Bananaman,

I've never directly dealth with wasps but I've seen a pretty clever looking wasp nest removal kit at trapawasp.co.uk

I definitely like the idea of the gloves and mask lol

    Hi there bananman,

We found a wasps nest inside the old shed when we bought our house. I tried the aerosol foam but it didn't seem to do a lot unfortunately.

My husband took drastic action by getting up at 4a.m., when it was cool and taking a 14lb hammer to it I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS METHOD!

Had I had any idea what he was up to we would have called in the council, although our council does not deal with wasps nests any longer and we would have found someone in yellow pages.

He then sprayed the air with wasp killer spray and didn't get stung once. Probably because the wasps were dozy otherwise he would have been in real trouble.

Now the garden belongs to ME :D , i allow him the odd visit from time to time but NEVER un-supervised [IMG]

Cheers guys, accidentalgardener your husband must be an adrenaline junky ! I unloaded a foam can at the front and rear of the nest but only managed to kill a few who got it full face and generally annoyed them more than destroyed them. We too have to pay for this kind of pest work so I paid a guy to come and puff the nest properly and it has done the trick. He said there are loads of nests this year and they are quite advanced this early in the season. I am glad I got to it before it was heaving as the damson trees are now heavy with fruit for the wasps to get lagered up on. One down side is that you still get inquisitive wasps coming to have a look at the nest, so there are still more wasps about that we are used to. He said becasue alot of nesting sites look the same you often get wasps returning to a nest not realising its not their one. [IMG]

    Hiya Bananaman,

He's just plain crazy, get's an idea into his head and he's off with it. The latest one has been extending the patio "as a surprise", so i've basically lost another third of the garden to concrete

He swiftly followed this by knocking down the internal wall of the extension to "re-do" it. Personally i think he has obssesive behaviour and have now hidden the key to the new shed so that he can neither get to more cement mix or the famous 14lb hammer :D [IMG] [IMG]

Good news about your fruit, bet you will be popular with the neighbours for jam and stuff :D

Maybe if the wasps get lagered up they will off their faces and then you too may get the chance to use a 14lb hammer [IMG] [IMG]

Sounds like you have fun in your house ! :D

The wasps appartently keep themselves to themselves whilst they are building the nest betweeen April and september. But after its complete they go out in search of the good stuff and go looking for sport ! The pest guy was a really good fella, genuine you know. Anyway he said that he did one nest over at Hylands House where they do The V festivals, and a group of soldier wasps chased him for 50 yards back to his car. He said he hid for 20 minutes but still managed to get stung getting back into his car. He said the soldier wasp was going hell for leather with the stinger through his trousers.

I worked for the Forestry Commission in the late 1950's. I destroyed 14 wasp nests in 1958. It was easy then, we could use cyanide for the job. Two of us to our team, one to hold the Cymag (Cyanide) the other to dip a desert spoonful out of the tin with a spoon bound on a long stick. It was very tricky, get it wrong and your partner could get poisoned. You need to have two people who have complete confidence in each other to do the job.

Bananaman that deserves a big ouch

We have been getting hornets as well (i think they are although they may be MASSIVE wasps - 1 inch long) :(

Question: Why do wasps exist

I know why pidgeons exist - to poo on my Jeep when i'm not looking, i may have mis-spelt them but i don't care 'cos they cost me 7.50 a week to have the thing washed

Now bee's i love, they are lovely, they have purpose AND they aren't aggressive unless provoked bless 'em [IMG] [IMG]

Wasps are pretty stoopid. They build their nests in the most unsuitable places. They do eat aphids and the like so I suppose that is good. I love bees, they are very clever. I think the thing I like most about them is if they come back to the hive tipsy, they are sent away to sober up before they can come back in.

Evening, Babe ... hopefully your wasps won't come back ... the thought they may after paying to get rid of them is quite horrific. Don't they remove the actual nests? If not, why not?

ag, my friend, would it not be cheaper to wash your Jeep yourself ... BM can tell you all about wonderful products to use to make it gleam and shine and see yourself in it like a mirror and probably wouldn't cost £7.50 a week, would it Babe?

I personally just use the hose nightly to knock the dust off ...

I think as it sprawled into the loft it would be difficult to remove. The nest wont be used again it just seems to attract a few dopey wasps who need to get themselves a cheap TomTom unit.

Would cost a bit more than that :D

I really must update my BM polishes his car thread.

    mmmm shiney !

More than £7.50 a week for a DIY job ???? Are you crazier than I know you are ??????

I don't like you or your car ... but you know that ... I'll continue to knock my dust off with the hose ... not as nice but far cheaper and you know by the time I got to the road I'd need the hose again! :D

We're "sort of" looking for my air conditioned convertible ...
