Sorry grinch I just saw this. The advice is to dig it up, dry it off and wrap it up then keep it cool and dry for the winter.

Me, I'm a loony. Mine's a babbie. I'm going to throw some straw and hessian over mine. Mind you I'm on the coast and we don't get your frosts. I suggest you do the classic way, I do my loony way and we compare notes next late May.

I have never tried 'Black magic' but apparently it is a variety of esculata. The general advice for this one seems to be that if it is bedded then dig it up about now and plant it in a pot and bring it in doors and treat it as a house plant over the winter. If it's not bedded then it will already be in a pot so just bring it in.

It's at this time of year when a proper greenhouse comes into its own. (Sigh).

I have both, you can either chop off leaves and store tuber over winter in greenhouse or where ever or bring in to the house and keep going. During the summer they can sit in water cos they are aquatic.

I think Chan you have to give it plenty of light. It is (as TO says) aquatic but over winter just needs to be kept moist (it is not growing). Spray with a fine mist from a spray gun occasionally. (About once a month). Good luck.

only problem is, since i told my fella at the beginning of the summer that it likes to sit in water i'm now having trouble persuading him to slow down the irrigation [IMG] keep sending him to the shop and then sneakily pouring the water away [IMG]
