Newbie needs a plant identified...

    Hi guys.

    Could someone please identify this plant for me?

    Its also growing quite tall and it needs to be cut back however I am not sure if i should just chop it off at the height required or if there is something more complicated needed.

    Identification and advice would be appreciated.

    looks like a mahonia to me also, probably "charity".

    Its not the kind of plant you really want to cut back every year, but you can do it now and new shoots will go on to flower about December time.

    Another quick question.

    Is there anything in particular I need to consider when cutting it back or do I just snip it off wherever?
