I want to put some plants at the front of the house in containers. Mainly as a protection to the wall in case the car accidentally was to hit the wall as my drive is on a down slope.

I want some attractive evergreen plants that can grow to say 2-2.5 metres in reasonably sized containers.

Stranvaesia, Choisya Sundance, Hebe, Varigated Viburnum, Skimmia, Photinia red robin, Senecio, Euonymus, Contoneaster, Escallonia,
Elaeagnus and yes they can be all kept in large pots and kept small because I have had them all at some time or another. [IMG]

Skimmias probably the slower and they need to be in an acid soil and regulary fed an acid feed through the growing months to keep them green and healthy. Contoneaster can be slow. Everything else is easy and need normal soil and normal feeding no special requirements so personally I would stick to something that doesn't require too much fuss. Best to get a gardening book and have a look at pictures of everything else on the list and choose what you think would look nicest outside your house, either way they are plants that would look great anywhere.
