Who can tell me when I should water my seeds. They have already began to grow but are getting really lanky. The stems are almost transparent. Does anyone know what I mean????????
Think I may have to go and by plugs. Its just not going to happen

strawberry, petunia and lobelia. Indoors by a window not in a propagator. have the room at the right temperature. Not sure if i'm was born to be a gardner....I have just had a greenhouse biult today and bought a heated propogator. But hope its not all a waste of time and effort. I am really keen.

Hi Dizzylizzy - whilst you don't say where your seedlings are growing, almost certainly their lankyness is due to light rather than water.

If you've got an area that gets more sunlight than where they are - then it may be worth potting them up into small pots, but burying part of the long stem.

Otherwise try again when the sun is higher in the sky, and the light is better.

With the amount of dampness in the air at this time of year, I would also keep seedlings on the dry side - also encourages route growth.

Hi Dizzylizzy.Your doing well.No one is born a gardener,(It just grows on you)It dos,ent matter
if you have been Gardening 60 minutes or 60 years,we all get Disappointing results, there is,nt
many gardeners that have 100% success rate with their propagation ,If I can get 50% ,then I am pleased. Everything else is a bonus [IMG]
Your first success will vanish away all your disappointment's.

cheers everyone. Its not any better light today here in Edinburgh, really quite grey. I'll try all those wee tips. Otherwise I might be better buying some shares in Dobbies.

Just when I thought I was doing really well up pops up this THING. OR THINGS. They are running about in the soil of the Sylina's. Wee white things about 3ml long. How on earth???????
It was new soil for seeds and I've had them covered in a propogator. And the seeds were a sealed packet. Can I spray such young seedling????????????
