Sick camellia

Hi all
We were given a camellia about a month ago which had been potted in normal compost. The leaves began to turn brown and the buds fell off and we realised it was the wrong type of soil. It has now been re-potted in ericaceous compost but it is still not recovering. Should we prune it and remove all the dead parts? Is there anything we should feed it?
Any advise gratefully received for a novice gardener!

Best thing to do is to leave it and see if it will recover. They don't like being disturbed too much so if there was nothing like vine weevil in the compost when you changed it, it will at least get a chance. Keep it moist but not waterlogged through the summer and don't give up on it until next spring.

I planted one last year that was doing well untill we had our late snow and frosts in March/April and it looks dead but I'll leave it for now and see if it will regenerate.

Eventually though, sometimes we just have to accept a dead stick is a dead stick :(

 

you could give it a dose of sequestrine too
