I am new to gardening and need some help finding some evergreen hardy shrubs to cover a fence which is a bit of an eyesore. I need something that will grow to at least 3-4 feet but not exceed 6-7 feet. The space I need cover along the ground is about 14 feet. We have pets/children so cannot be poisonous and prefer something that doesn't require too much work. Don't ask for much do i [IMG] Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try looking down the list in General Garden Discussion to "plants for a northeast wall" and plant for a "really shady wall" all quite new topics and you could get a faster response this way.

Ouu err Nice South face - Wisteria, roses, clematis honeysuckle. You could underplant with lavender, a few verbascums if its dry soil, nerines against the wall. where abouts in North Yorks are you?

As to your shadey area, is it all in containers? I used to hate my shady areas but now I have my best plants in them.
