Is anyone else experiencing a dusty black soot type-stuff on the leaves of their Camellia?

It in flower now but the black is still all over its leaves!

Just wondering what it might be ... any thoughts, anyone?

Looks like the guys are on the case Passion Flower.

However, (totally off topic I'm afraid, such is me) if you are into your Camellias, the National Camellia Collection is just a few miles away from us at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

    http://www.mountedgcumbe.gov.uk/

Well worth a visit - it is a beautiful place.

I'll try and get there on a sunny day and take some pics for you to see how lovely it is. You get fantastic coastal path walks up onto the headland with magnificent views of Plymouth Sound and Dartmoor. There is a rumour that there is an example of every type of tree in the park and there are many little garden sections to explore and if you are very lucky, you may see the deer.

Can't recommend it highly enough. One of my favourite places in this area.

If you do pop down Paul, you would be welcome to pop in for a cream tea! [IMG]

    Thanks for the replies.
I did do a search on Camellia but didn't pick that posting up - happier now I know I am not the only one with sooty bits! ;)
Yes, it is just like the photo on that link .. I will follow that advice.
This Camellia lives in a large stone pot. I bought it years ago before I know much about gardening, i.e. that certain plants should go in certain places and in particular soil [IMG] but having said that this plant is well happy (south facing) and the flowers are in abundance!

This is mine late yesterday afternoon.

As you can see it has been battered by the wind just a little but still has lots of flowers. Lives happily in this stone trough but I think it will need moving soon.
PS. You can see the black sooty bits on the leaves
