Now recovered from my bypass op and ready to garden again. Meantime moved into a new house with an established garden totally neglected.
Question: we are developing two or three Perennial/Shrub areas and would like some idea of how many plants per 'clump'(2/3/other)of perennials, e.g I have one section 5*5 metres square where I want to put 1/2 rhododendrons with miscanthus/delphiniums/lavender & etc.
Any suggestions would be appreciated .

Hi Chobart it seems as if you have had an awful lot on your plate of late how you managed a house move after such a medical ordeal is beyond me....I think you well deserve a pat on the back! [IMG]

I'm sure you are just itching to start on your new plot, the plants you have mentioned will look wonderful.

Sorry I can't give you any advice on how many to plant in one spot as I'm a great believer in banging in as many as I can in one place to get an amazing effect a little more quicker than normal.....but I'm sure someone will come to your aid.Hel.xxx.

I do the same as Helen. Plant lots of stuff and then move them later if they get too crowded. Not a very organised way to do it but it works for me [IMG] :D

Thanks for the advice - and for your kind words Helen. Getting back into the garden has been held up because of the awful cold weather but have just found out that one of my golfing pals has a friend who has a wholesale nursery so am hoping for good things to come.
I agree with cramming everything in but with a blank 'canvas' it's a bit awkward knowing where to start
