hi Taney what plants, guess it's outdoors..leeches ? could it be caterpillars ? They can eat a whole plant over night...but plant normally does not die , just looks bare, you need to spray them, ask in your local garden shop. Then feed them and you may get them back to flower again.

Could they not also potentially be black slugs which i have experienced stripping plants over night! and no they did not grow back! Slug Pellets worked for me!

thank you for the thrushes [IMG] since a few thrushes are around i have been finding empty snail shells all around. The trouble is the birds are eating the strawberries, I have finally given in some for me, and some for the birds. My raspberries are in abundance this year more than usual [IMG]

Glad to hear a bit of sharing going on. After many years with never a sign of a thrush I now have them nesting in my garden - the frogs and toads deal with the slugs but leave the snails, now I got a snail eater, and my delphiniums flower - a loss of strawberries I can bear.

Even more joy, after a gap of a few years, last night at dusk two humped shapes on my lawn, revealed themselves as hedgehogs - long may they visit.
