    Hi Karen

The only one you could do now is plant some garlic if you clear a patch in a corner...its a bit late really but you are in a mild area and it is a hardy plant, you could stick some in on a day when its not frosty and the soil isn't waterlogged (that rules out most of the winter [IMG] )

Or wait until spring when you can really get sowing and planting.....i find though if you have something in now it gives you an incentive to keep popping down the allotment and doing a bit when weather allows

We have overwintering onions in and also Leeks, Parsnips, and Chard still in and also some late sown spring onions and beetroot!

Thank you! Do you know of any good web sites that could give me information on growing veg? Also is it worth collecting leaves and covering the plot over winter?

Karen, the best thing you can do is get the ground turned over,by digging or rotorvating then letting the frost do its work.In the spring you can start setting, meanwhile get a book from the library & plan for next year.
    Best wishes E.W.
