Runner Beans and Peppers

    Do they need stakes or are they self supporting

    Runner beans will need canes or similar to attach themselves to and will grow to quite a height. ( see Tallulah's pictures at the top of the main page ) You can place them in rows, or make 'wigwam' arrangements with them. Peppers, if they are the sweet pepper type, will need support of some kind as they tend to get floppy with the weight of the peppers as they grow. I use small canes for those too. :)

    I've made some canes out of the low branches of my willow tree.
