So the donations...?

Back after a while and things have certainly changed:D and I was wondering about the donations, are they paid on a monthly or yearly basis?

Thanks, I was just being nosey really, as last month if my memory isn't letting me down, was about 27 smackers but the month before was zilch. Which got me to thinking, that if all the 500 or so active members divi up a quid a year... well cheap at half the price. Another good reason for having a PayPal account!!

 

I Clicked Subscribe instead of Donate
What is the difference, the subscription has not shown up on the donations of the month indicator
And I have nothing back, other than an auto response saying it will be checked though the pay pal account has taken my cash

Shame really as this is my last night of using GC due to the cat thread and responses received

I have wondered about the donations just never got round to asking (plus didn't want peeps to think I was being thick :o)
i would be more than happy to part with a couple of squid a year for GC as I feel it would be worth it so what about it Webmaster?
Does anyone feel they would like to do the same and would it be poss? (certainly sort out the wheat from the chaff too me thinks )

Jack, please don't go. I've enjoyed your style of banter. But you do need to be a little thicker skinned if you're going to post on forums! :WINK1: It's all part of the usual hurly burly of forum interchange - what often goes for 'debate'! If you feel unduly insulted or other, then you should report the post using the report icon in the offender's post.

 

Thanks Daisees I know about the donate button but I was wondering if maybe a paid membership (monthly/yearly) so to even out the months for example when nowt goes in the pot if that makes sense With that some sort of area for paid members only? This is just a thought I do not want to go upsetting GC'ers, not my intention at all.
I always like to check things out before parting with me shrapnel lol

 

Oh I see - gotcha. We did consider that but it requires a lot of coding that we're not up to right now!

I made a donation but hit subscribe button, the payment has left my paypal account 02-06-2011

All I have is an email (xxxhere) saying my payment would be checked

What is worrying is my PayPal account now has an ANNUAL payment set up to remove funds annually yet nothing back from you
It never mentioned a subscription would be for life ? or x years even

The donation band still shows £30 required donations NIL

Once the payment has been acknowledged as taken by you then I will remove the annual subscription from paypal and make normal donations as and when

I am not a freeloader and believe in supporting the various forums that I use

I can not find anything about a subscribed user anywhere ?

A reply by PM would be prefered but no problem if posted here

Sorry about this, Jack. Bit of a system coding mistake. The mistake being that none of us are really expert coders so this is all a bit of a mystery to us. I'll pm the owner (Nathan) and ask him to look into it. Trouble is, his business is extremely busy just now (lucky so-and-so!) so he doesn't get much time to spend on the forum. Thanks for bringing this to our attention though

 

Yes this is what happened to me when I paid a donation as well but as you mentioned just cancelling the recurring payment in PayPal will insure that no money will leave your account next year automatically

 

I forgot to say - I made a "How To" on this How to Donate to GC

 

I also have done the exact same thing as Jack and have had the exact same results. Could someone check into it for me and let me know what's what? Much appreciated!!
