    Hi,

Just browsing the web, has anyone had dealings with freeplant.net? It looks too good to be true, in my opinion, but was wondering if anyone had tried them with positive results... i.e. actually recieved a free plant or some seeds?

    homepage link is: http://www.freeplant.net/index.php

    Thanks!

Had no experience of it myself but I just had a quick look at the website and my gut instinct is to avoid it, some of the wording in the 'about us' and 'FAQ' seems a bit off to me! Sadly if something seems too good to be true more often than not it is! If you want to get some 'free' plants and just pay postage then look out for offers in the Daily Mail, don't worry you don't need to buy the paper all the time :WINK1: but often you'll spot, 'free climbers' or 'free perennials' etc. I got free pink perennials late last summer they were very healthy little plants, I planted them on and they have grown so well! I also got a few Clematis a while ago.

I would agree with Freedom_Spark. It seems to be based in the US - which is not very relavent to us. But I suspect the quote below from their site gives the true objective.

    Thanks for your responses...

I agree my gut instinct tells me the same, which is why I asked in the first place  I'll keep my eyes open for the offers in the Daily Mail freedom_spark, thanks for that.

I have had a glance at the website and it looks like a data gathering exercise. You may well get some freebies but expect shedloads of junk mail and numerous phone calls to sell you various bits of rubbish.

Yes indeed poolcue, I think I'll try to keep my current level of just 3 trees worth of junk mail a week :heehee:

Thanks for taking a look though!

A couple of years ago we used to have a seed exchange setup on this very forum. Not exactly free stuff but a fair swap. Does anyone know if that still runs?

There was a Freeshrubs site in the UK , must have been 2008. All you had to do was pay the postage for 3 small shrubs . I thought this is to good to be true - and it was ! I paid £5 by PayPal and nothing, no reply to emails or phone calls . I claimed my money back from paypal for non delivery. There are a few good deals from time to time out there , just be careful.
