When you think of an elegant plant/flower etc to give a nice touch to an interior, which comes first to your mind? Does it have necessarily to be very neatly shaped? I think the monstera deliciosa is a nice one.

I suppose Orchids come to mind first, but there must be loads of others! I like jasmine personally - I find it really delicate. I'm not so great at keeping it alive though!

Dracaena Marginata is a very elegant plant particularly 'Tricolor' and I agree, Chamaedora, Palour Palms are also very attractive.

Coleus is not normally regarded as an all year round house plant and usually drops a majority of it's leaves in winter in a house and even in a heated greenhouse but is fine as a summer/autumn plant.
There are some fantastic colours now.

When I were but a lad, back in the late 70s and 80s, 'Cheese Plant's were very popular, and I really liked them. Apart from looking good, they were indestructible, so much so in fact that I once threw a stick for the dogs while down the beach. After several games of fetch I noticed that this dried out, leafless, battered, chewed up stick had traces of roots on it. I took it home and planted it just as an experiment. A few months later we had a big bushy cheese plant.

I also like the Peace Lilly these days.
