Briza maxima from seed?

    Reading lukenotts thread earlier reminded me that actually I've been meaning to ask about growing Briza maxima from seed :DOH:

    Now from what I can remember from the last time I grew it, each seed germinated into one stalk of grass? and so I was thinking of putting a number of seeds into individual cell trays and putting it in the draughty polly tunnel (I know it's hardy but I'd like to start it inside at the least)

    how many seeds do you think would make a reasonable sized clump?

    best I can find from browsing online is,

    From what I can gather elsewhere, most seed companies recommend thinning out to about 25-30cm apart... not sure if this is much help or not :what:
