    Hi Folks
Just read through this post and it certainly taught me something. I got a clump of rhubarb from my mate earlier this month and I potted it up. I gave it a week of forcing and now it's looking good, however I now see you guys say don't harvest for the first three years, does that go for this situation or mainly new stock. This clump came from a well established plant.
When you say don't harvest, do you mean let it rot or should I cut it but simply not use it when it's grown? Might sound silly but I've never grown it before.

    Gerard :rolleyespink:

Hi Spider, The "don't pull until the 3rd year" advice is for any Rhubarb plant that has just been put in the ground. If you noticed in my post I said I'd divided my long established clump last Autumn which means I won't harvest mine until 2013.:cry3: Believe me, it's worth the wait, because as in Ziggy's post the plant needs a couple of seasons to establish itself in the site, where it'll be for years - that way you get a much better harvest for years to come.

By, the way Spider, don't cut your Rhubarb stalks to harvest but pull them away by gripping down at the bottom of the stalk and pulling with gentle force - that's the way to do it:thumbsup:

Don't forget to give it an annual general fertiliser feed so it keep giving you a good return - now get the custard recipe out and start practicing for your first harvest.:D
