    Hi all:dbgrtmb::help::help::help:

    I have two birds of paradise i bought from a good internet company. When they arrived they were very heathy 3 foot plant. I left them for a few days after watering them and then potted them on into a pot 1 size bigger. I don't water them every day only when the compost feels dry. However, I have noticed that some of the leaves and stems are turning yellow and the tips of the others are brown and splitting. Any ideas what is happening and how I can rectify this?

    Thanks in advance

    When did you get them as you shoudnt be potting up now should wait for early summer it sounds like you have watered them to much as most house plants this time of year just need to be ticking over with just enough to keep them going, plus they like warmth no drafts

    Thanks . They arrived last week and had to pot one on as the pot it came in was split. I have them in the living room. I think you have just hit the nail on the head. The one wiht the problem could be in a slight draft. I will try moving it. Thanks again.

    Its the problem with buying tropical plants this time of year been growing at all the right conditions light heat water before they get to the customer, then they come into our houses with tempertaures up and down always best to get these in the summer they stand a better chance of getting used to the house conditions , hopfully they never caught a chill coming through the post I have had that before, plus be realy careful with watering they are tough leaved plant and can stand not being watered for quite some time, light misting with water every day will help and probaly all they need

    Hope this helps

    I suspect its shock from transit and repotting. My BOP is in a cool back room, i hardly water it over winter and its not exactly in a bright place either yet its dark green and healthy. If i were you i would park it in a warm and light position to recover, mist daily and only water again when very dry.

    Better still, use one of these;

    You can probably get one at your local pound shop.
