    I'm aching all over. Yesterday I took my son to a different park to the ones he usually goes to, and there was a massive rope net based assault course thing there. The sign said it was for kids aged 8 to 15, but we're all monkeys at heart I reckon so I was compelled to climb and swing from everything. That was yesterday, and today I'm aching in places where I didn't even know it was possible to ache.

    I think I'm going to have to dust down the old pushbike now the nights a pulling out and see if I can get myself back into a shape other than Homer Simpson shaped.

    Funnily enough, I can dig for hours on end and merely get tired. A hot bath, a cup of tea and some biscuits and I'm fine again. I guess it comes down to using muscles you always use, vs using muscles you don't normally use.

    No.

    Its after the winter stuff.

    We've been stuck in doing very little. I'm aching from the past few days of digging & raking & weeding. Need to get the muscles going again.

    Must admit, i'd like to sleep longer in the winter though. Gone are the days when i'd be up at 4.30 & down to the beach fishing before work.

    O.K. I'll admit it, I am getting older.

    I just don't want to:DOH::DOH:

    Age is just figment of the imagination, a human construct that has no meaning in reality. The concept of age is just the product of the soul getting bored, as long as we experience, we grow, and as long as we grow, we live, and as long as we live, we are young.

      Yes it is largely about using your body in ways your not used to.

      If you want to get properly fit, you need to do as many different types of exercise as possible, in order to be sure that you're using every muscle in the body. You should also do different types of cardio to strengthen you heart (and it just feels nice and makes life easier to be cardiovascular fit!).

      I, like everyone else, would like to be fit but it takes mental effort as well as physical. I'm trying to keep to a promise to myself to go for at least two 8 miles walk a week and so far I've only managed one a week with a couple of "misses". I spent part of the day up a ladder putting up a new security light and then and then another good part on my knees sorting out the front border with a cold wind blowing, but a cup of hot tea sorted that! There aren't many jobs that I can't do because of physical ability so far, but it's always in the back of my mind so I tend to push myself and always finish a job I've started - so far without feeling too much like my age! I think keeping mentally fit is just as important as being physically fit.

      I think you should all try Zumba, it's great fun and you use all your muscles and shimmy all your extra pounds away! :yahoo:I found after a very cold inactive winter it didn't half give me a wake up call. Not see many boys doing it though lol!

      It's a fitness activity, using some dance steps, such as samba, salsa etc. It's great fun and much better than doing the age old aerobics.

      There have been a few cool exercise systems in recent years. Zumba does look fun, and a few years ago Boxercise was all the rage.

      The trouble is they all tend to be aimed at women, and if you're a bloke, while its always nice to be surrounded by fit ladies in lycra, I can't imagine it being very comfortable for either gender, with ladies paranoid that the blokes are perving, and blokes paranoid that the ladies think they're perving. It doesn't help when so many clubs reinforce this suspicion by running women only classes.

      Roll on Men's Liberation when we can all burn our Y-fronts, that what I say.

      We could always try cross-dressing... all in the name of fitness of course :WINK1:

      On second thoughts... My class would be empty if I slipped into lycra :th_scifD36:
