new handle

    i have my dearly loved late grandmothers border fork

    unfortunately the wooden handle broke

    anybody know where i can get a new wooden handle from - locally i can only find a wooden shank and plastic handle and grandmother wouldnt have liked that

    I don't think the old wooden "D" handles are made any more. I'm afraid you are stuck with a plastic "D" handle. The only way you could get a wooden "D" handle is from an old fork or spade at a Boot sale.

    Hi Loopy. I know just how you feel. My dad's faithful old spade is one stone strike away from needing a new handle as well. After a cursory search of t'web I've decided that something like this:Faithfull Ash Yd Handle Straight Taper 28IN: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools. will be about right for me ( although a little on the expensive side! ). I think my spade'll probably end up like Trigger from Only Fools and Horses' brush - he's had the same brush 20 years and it's only had 17 new heads and 14 new handles!
    I hope you can find something suitable.

    Sorry, I thought you wanted a wooden D handle not a steel one.

    its wooden but the D is of metal

    i think its either that or plastic - couldnt find any all wood ones

    the grip is wooden too
