I normally put some with my buddleias because they were chosen to planted on very thin soil (theres concrete underneath that patch)

    spread some round the beds

i've tried it on trees but most on my trees are in the lawn so I prefer to give them a feed - doesn't damage the grass

but as to which plants might benefit most I don't know. I've got one bucket left so any suggestions...

Spread it on any ground where plants are growing. It will smother weeds and improve the soil. Personally I dont think that you can overcompost - most of it has come out of the ground somewhere. I make about 20 barrowloads a year and it all goes on the veg plot.

:thumb: Hi Johnny, I use mine as a general mulch on my borders where I have perennial plants growing.. Helps to stifle the weeds, helps moisture retention & is of course good for those plants..!!!!

I use my own compost in exactly the same way as Marley Farley uses his.

It's worth making sure that it goes on to moist earth to help the worms pull it down into the soil.

My only problem is that the local blackbirds enjoy throwing it around, as they look for the worms! Quite a bit of it ends up on my lawn so I have to sweep it back before I mow.

:) I also use it as a mulch, and put a small amount around newly planted plants and shrubs
I use it to, to mix with multipurpose compost for large pots, they can take a hell of a lot of stuff and can work out expensive, specially with container grown potatoes and the like.
My compost is probably two thirds leaf mould,a very good friable mix.
The best thing is it's FREE :).

I do the same as the others, spread it everywhere on the beds - but just like Flinty, the blackbirds help to spread it on the grass, paths and driveway.

you can never have too much compost on the garden. :thumb:
