Not really wild but a bit neglected. I dug out as much cranesbill as I could and lots of other weeds besides. I had a big pile of rocks and stones that needed getting rid of, but I decided to use them to make a path to fill the weeded area. The path doesn't lead anywhere and may be it looks a bit stark at the moment, but the speed the primroses and cowslips spread, they should soon soften the edges of it a bit and the plant that the end of the path is only a youngster. I am also hoping to put some coloured solar lights in there to give it a bit more interest.

the pic stays small even when I enlarge it but i really like the little curved path. I don't think paths have to lead anywhere in particular in a garden.

This may work a little better.

    Hey Louise,

The pic is still fairly small, but I get the idea. A nice, mature setting. What is that in the background? Looks like it could be the sea...

You know, those clumps of primroses and cowslips you mentioned look like prime suspects for division onced they've finished flowering for the year (at least three plants per clump). Strategically space them out and water them in, then leave them to root down under the shade of the trees during the rest of the year, and next spring you'll be pleasantly surprised/reminded.

    Bon chance!

    Thanks
I will divide up the plants as I did throw a few out because they were so entangled with everything else. I have some tulips and daffs in there too which are in flower now, so I think I may develop the ground into a spring garden so I have something pretty to look at before the roses and shrubs bloom.
