    Hi,

Am new here and just had a little idea but had no idea whether it would would work for anything or not, but figured will see if anyone has any experience.

Bit about me, I am pretty new to gardening (2nd season now) and dont really have much of a garden so have been restricted to whatever I can grow in containers on my small balcony. Last year I had a couple of potato planter bags and a couple of window boxes, with spring onions and pak choi, all which worked out quite successful.

This year I am expanding to add a few more potato planters as well as some strawberry planters and some sweet pepper plants too.

Anyway, I was just thinking about ways to expand further going forward and was thinking of adding in some hanging baskets for next year and I suddenly remembered that I had this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/61359234@N08/5579933180/) and wondered if anyone had any experience in converting one to use to grow small plants in.

There are 20 sections overall and each one measures roughly 10cm x 8cm x 17cm deep - pretty much exactly big enough to each hold two 250ml lynx shower gel bottles!

Was just wondering if I could find some use for this in the garden - thinking maybe hanging it up and using it as a planter, but have absolutely no idea what (if anything!) I would be able to grow in it.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum Maniac.
I think there are things you could grow in there if you punch some drainage holes in the pouches.
You seem to like things to eat. I was going to say strawberries but I see you are talking about having strawberry planters.
I think you could grow most salad in there - lettuce, spring onions, radish, red onion.
    All kinds of herbs.
Some of the cascading flowers - nasturtium, begonia, geranium.
It might all take a bit of watering but I think it could be done.
Good luck and see what other suggestions you get.

What a great idea Maniac. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it.
