Last year my peach fruited for the 1st time. I had nurtured it lovingly and protected against frost. However by the time I plucked up courage to remove fruit the kernel had already split open and been attacked by earwigs. Any suggestions to prevent the same thing happening this year:scratch:

Was every kernel like this and was the fruit over-ripe by the time you picked it?

You'll have to harvest the fruit earlier, Galore.

Thanks Kedi. A neighbour who is a gardener at local estates told me he had had the same problem. Possibly due to the early hot spell that encouraged ripening before the kernel had set. I was just wondering if anyone else had had the same problem.
