There's some in there with distinctly blue foliage. Is that genuine or a product of photoshop? I've seen plants with a blue tint to their leaves, but never so vivid. I like them, and if they are genuine then I can see a shopping spree coming.

As an aside, do hostas have noteworthy flowers or are they just favoured for their foliage? I hear/read a lot of good words about hostas but I know nothing about them.

some white, some purple (on mine anyway):WINK1:

One problem is the slugs and snails adore them too.

    I love
Hostas , the one called Warpaint is a stunner ! Will it have the same name in the UK ? Is it available over here ?I only grow hostas in containers as they are a gourmet meal for slugs n snails . I find that a ring of copper tape around the pot , and also a light spray on bottom 3" of the pot with WD40 has a 99% success rate at keeping the little ":mute: "off them.

Wow some real stunners there Red, I've been buying a few recently, we have an area in our little wood that I'm going to plant with hostas, love the really huge ones, think I can feel a new addiction coming on, youngest daughters just bought me membership to BHHS for Mothers Day so that'll really lead me astray, help, lol.

Their flowers can be quite striking - depending on the variety. We have a number of them and they are always rewarding.

You can see some in the background of this picture

When I was designing one of my large gardens, 12' by 14' I wanted to keep it simple, have other gardens that are more complex. Anyway, I put rhododendrons and lots of different hostas in there.
The point I am making: is if your wanting to do a very large area and flood it with hostas, its cheaper to look for an online/mail order nursery that will sell a "collection" of hostas, usually there are a dozen in the lot and they tell you the names so you can control the positioning of them. I did that for this particular section, and they all came up, and all are very nice.

Bali Hai nursery in N.I sell Hosta 'War Paint' at around £14 (p+p free)
They are Hosta and Agapanthus specialists and I have found them very good company.

A great link. I have seen War Paint before. It sometimes turns up on ebay for about £15.

I love the Hosta curly fries, looks totally different, hopefully will be able to track down a UK supplier for one of those.

Curly fries, has been haunting me. It would be a great filler plant.
Well I think, I will wake up, found the cost of one plant---$25.00. and it is considered small size.
