I'm loving the new 'like this/share' option. It's nice to be able to say 'I like this' in a way other than 'Thank You' which is not always relevant. Hope the button stays!
You guys planning to do a LIKE for Facebook (with the relevant OpenGraph META tags in the page - so possibly a not-insignificant-change!!) ? Not something I use, but it is something clients ask us to build into their sites, and it does seem to attract a lot of traffic ... just a though :thumb:
By the by, just looked on the vBulletin site for something else and they have (what appears to be) the Full Monty FaceBook LIKE on their site, so I guess its in-the-mix which may mean its an easy install (or not! I'm only thinking out-loud ...)
I HATE Facebook and will never use it, but I like being able to express a liking for something with my fellow gardeners corner friends. That's enough for me.
Indeed, I don't have a facebook account either. But there is no denying the power of its LIKE mechanism. If you aren't familiar with it it works something like this: The page shows a LIKE button like this I click it, and Facebook associates the Page with my Facebook account. The "magic" in this is that Facebook reads the page I was on, and that page contains some techie stuff - about Thumbnail image, Site name, Page description, etc. This enables: My facebook page then shows: Kristen likes Gardeners Corner : How to grow money on trees. All my mates are gardening fanatics (obviously!) so they all click on the link to visit GardenersCorner. They register, contribute other info about Growing Money on Trees , and the world is rosy etc etc etc Also, the "Facebook Likes" Icon then shows the number of people who have "Like"'d the page. Which adds credibility for other visitors to the site. The world is rosy x2 etc etc etc
