    Gonig well there, GCQ :dbgrtmb:

As John has said, the compost looks a little lumpy and you may need to water the plants a bit more often. It shouldn't make much difference now but I would get something different next time. A general all-purpose compost is good enough as long as it is fine enough. I use the one from Wickes as it is good quality and cheap .

Regarding the use of these Plastic type greenhouses.

My Daughter-in-Law was using one I passed along for her first effort at Tomatoes.

Unlike WOO we have "slightly" more inclement weather.

:cry3:I believe the Greenhouse was reported as a hazard by Pilots landing at the local Airport:cry3:

She's now looking for somewhare to locate the Tomatoes - out of reach of a non-selective 2.5 year old "weed-picker"

GCQ,I have found in the past that if I use cheap compost then the plants don't grow as well so this year we have paid extra and got better compost and both my toms and peppers are doing quiet well and they have already had to be potted on into bigger pots.

Alos I have moved mine out of the greenhouse into the conservatory as there is more light and heat in there. We have some of those mini greenhouses and when i put them against the house wall where it was warmer with the heat coming off of the brick work the plants grew quicker and had to take out some of the shelves when the plants got taller.

Once your seedlings are at the first pair of true leaves they need pricking out into individual pots and not hardened off until they are a lot bigger plants.

Look forward to seeing how yours progress:)

Wow thank you all for your posts/advice i really do appreciate it and also listen. My compost was a cheap multi purpose as funds were tight and not knowing if I would work out never mind the seeds :o I wanted to see what happened and then learn for next year, read the forum and ask the Pro's :WINK1:
Don't have soil space as such as Mr GCK (to be) is threatening a patio area at some point this year and has started to dig and flatten (he also looking for advice so might be joining GC:thumbsup:) Will really want to pot garden this year and plan better for next?

Will keep posted on progress with more pics at later date prob with more questions but thanks all for your help and guidance

    Sending out an SOS
A neighbor just popped round to see how my tomatoes were doing (not well me thinks) until I saw hers and nearly dropped on the spot. Mine are nearly dead as forgot to open greenhouse and don't think I have been feeding them enough now i'm in panic and don't know what to do.

Open any vents and doors and give the toms a drink - then another drink later. Feeding depends on whether any trusses have set. With greenhouse grown toms you start feeding after the first truss has set. Then feed according to how they say on the container.

Try not to get water on to the leaves if possible, especially if it is sunny.

    They should recover OK. :dbgrtmb:

On hot days like this you need to water at least twice a day.

A truss is where the flowers are, that's where the fruit sets.

The truss is the side branch that has the flowers growing on it. The truss is 'set' when the flowers start forming the tomatoes.

Brilliant, I love him so much he is the best (don't tell Moto & Eric I said that though!) :heehee:

Have fed my toms twice now but didn't know about the truss & have looked but can only see 1 forming on 1 of my plants ( used a cheep version of Tomorite) think I will have a look around for something better now.

I'll pass the message on :kittykiss:

Stop feeding them until the first truss has set. Otherwise it will continue to grow just leaves and no flowers.

Toms are a bit shabby as told by a neighbour  (likes to say it as she sees it kinda woman :stirpot: ) Did explain this was my first ever time and the fact I am proud considering I have grown these from seed too. She insisted I see her plants (all 3 of them :heehee:, anyone listening would have thought she had a market gardeners green house full)

Anyway being as I have never been let down with advice from you great GCer's I thought I would throw myself to the mercy and hope you can :help: rather than listening to a load of waffle from someone who likes the sound of her own voice. I laugh about this now but the comments hurt somewhat as i don't claim to be Carol klein !

I have taken a lot of shoots off as I was feeding them before the trusses had set (thanks Shiney) I am now feeding them once a week with Tomorite. I have 3 larger plants and the 3 plants that are in terracotta pots are supposed to be tumbling toms and trusses are not set on them at present (if I understand the truss setting thingy correctly )
I am open to constructive critisim but would really appreciate tips or advice

Well, it sounds like you're getting the hang of it, and things back under control. We've all got to start somewhere and all of us have got some tales about our "crucibles of fire" and how we learnt what to do and what not to do.:D
