I have bringing on my Gogi bush in the windowsill since I bought it a few weeks ago. It is now obviously needing to be potted on and I am wondering if I would be able to grow it outside in a pot. Our climate up here is not fantastic and my garden is mostly shaded.

    Any advice gratefully accepted.

    Hi Sally

I have also just bought a Gogi bush, just awaiting delivery of it and im not sure what to do with it either I was planning on keeping it in the greenhouse at night take it out in the day till it gets a bit bigger then plant it out. Thats what im doing with the blueberrie bushes which arrived last week and where much smaller than I thought they would be

I bought one cheap from Lidl last year and planted it on the allotment. It seemed fine last time I looked at it, so it doesn't seem like it needs coddling! I think it'll grow at least 3 feet tall so it might not be all that suitable for a pot.

Mine was also from Lidl (2.99) - quite a bargain. I think I will put it in the greenhouse (just a plastic one) and then plant it out and see what happens. Thanks for all your comments.

I bought a couple two years ago and planted them straight into the ground into an area which receives about 5 hours direct sun per day, the rest in part shade. They've had a few frosts on them and they are fine, and growing well. Not sure what a good, sustained frost in the UK would do to them, but I think they originally come from quite high altitudes, so I personally wouldn't worry about protecting them too much.
